Public Libraries, Join In!
OK, first one thing needs to be said. We are way behind schedule. And by way behind schedule, I mean way behind schedule. The content can be moved into the new templates without too much trouble. And training to edit and create new content is not so bad either. But getting designs that everyone can agree to takes a bit more time. And designing is complicated work which in this case is done by professionals who are volunteering their time while they aren't at work designing things for a living. The point is, it's kind of difficult to tell volunteers to work a little faster; especially when it is clear they are working as fast as they can.
But that shouldn't discourage anyone from getting involved. We have to do something to prevent public libraries from running afoul of the United States Department of Justice's Project Civic Access. It just means you have to be realistic about how quickly things can get done. If designers and techies become interested, things could change for the better.
